I think you can, though you should call the vet first. Until then, put cool washcloths on the poor thing so he won't be as itchy. Poor dog, I feel for him!

Yes you may. We give our dog a full tablet and she weights about 20lbs more. I would start with a half tablet (unless a vet otherwise directs you) and see if that is helpful. If not, I'd call a vet and see if you would be okay in giving the dog more. (If you only use liquid, I'd start with 1/2 to 1 tablespoon.)

Check with a vet first - its very dangerous to administer some very ordinary human medicines to animals as they are metabolised differently. For example, just one or two tablets of Ibuprofen can kill a large dog by causing kidney failure. DON'T TAKE ANY CHANCES.

Most Vets do recommend Benadryl from time to time for Dogs...as mentioned the DOSAGE is very important, so DO check with your Vet first. Personally, I do NOT like using Benadryl...for humans or animals. Ideally I prefer to prevent the bites with Neems Oil (non toxic, works against skeeters, ticks and fleas for people and animals...dogs, cats, horses as commonly kept by people) You can also use plain old regular Lipton Tea...brew a pot...cool it down...use old cloths you don't care about because they will be stained..dip the cloth into the tea, wring it almost fully out, and lay over the affected areas...This works for sunburn as well...pulls the heat out.

Yes you can. I have had to give my dog benadryl several times! I don't know what the dosage would be for your dog,, but I do know that it will be much higher than you are expecting! I looked at the children's weight/dosage chart on the bottle and my vet told me that dogs metabolize antihistamine differently - the dose was more than double. I would give your vet's office a quick call and ask them what dosage they recommend.

Dogs can take benadryl and the liquid dose is 1cc per 10 lbs I think. (Dogs should not be given ibuprophen (sp?)or tylenol)

do not give any meds before checking w/ the vet! to help him w/ mosquito bites, use small amounts of cortisone cream on them. if your dog is being bitten by mosquitos use good flea, tick, and mosquito drops on him monthly.have your dog checked for heartworms as they are carried by mosquitos.heatworms can be deadly if not treate avon skin so soft hand lotion also works good as a mosquito repellent ..they hate the taste of it!!!!!!!!!!
