  • If you mean I "Wifi" card, then you only pay for the card and you can use it any place that has an unsecured wireless connection, or you have the password to a secured wireless connection. Most newer laptops come with a built in Wireless card like this. If you mean a cellular card, then yes, you have to pay monthly. When you buy a cellular card, you are paying for a Phone line, but instead of putting a phone on it, you are putting a card on it. If you are looking at a cellular card, I recommend one from Sprint. They are insanely fast (considering you can use them almost anywhere) if you are in certain areas, and they work in most places. I am in fact on one right now. Speeds on this one range from 500Kilobits-1.5megabits down, and about 200k up (its restricted). I'm just outside the area where the card is really fast though. Right now I'm running 946K down and 156up. Hope this helps.
