What do you think of small dogs being used as fashion accessories? I guess I'm fine with it as long as the dogs aren't thought of as disposable. You?

I think it's a sad and sorry situation and I think it DOES lead to disposable dogs mentality.

If your dog is in your life, as an accessories item, what happens if the dog FAILS to perform as the person believes it should? What if the dog doesn't live up to the ideal projected?

Paris Hilton GOT RID OF ONE OF HERS, BECAUSE IT FAILED TO SAY AS SMALL AS THE BREEDER suggested it would. She replaced it with one that would hopefully stay stunted for the breed size.

This is not a situation that is limited to those with more money than sense or to women with air between their ears either!

Plenty of guys want a MACHO Dog. They refuse to neuter the dog, because they equate their own balls with the dogs, they rate their own masculinity with that of their dogs. They strive to create a tough, aggressive dog by abusive means so that people will see THEM as manly, tough and a force to be reckoned with...utter bullchit..and the ruin of a lot of potentially GREAT dogs!

I think it's human nature, when you have a dog or horse, or companion animal to want the animal to be seen as smart, as willing, as dependable in its behaviors...that's not unreasonable...WE should strive to also have these qualities.

But I think it's just daft and irresponsible and self-centered when we place OUR EGOS on the shoulders of our animals or children...better to do our best to create balance and love and an accountable relationship between ourselves and those we surround ourselves with, human or animal than to project who and what we are on another living creature.

Just my opinion...everybody has at least one!

well it sort of depends; no one should think that that pets are disposible; they are life-long partbers; but i dont see much wrong with occasionally taking your dog around in a bag or pampering it as long as its alright with the dog and the dog can choose to stop if it wants to.

Dogs arne't ever going to be a fashion statement.
As I said in my other answer, they are pets - not a doll. I have two dogs both toy breeds, and I walk them on a leash. They arne't babies who need to be carried around everywhere.
