I somehow 'lost' the sound device on my pc ~ 'no sound device detected' on control panel. Can anyone help?

Click on start Search Type in sound device - you should be able to see where it's hiding

You could try Add Hardware in Control Panel. If that doesn't find your card it may have become physically unplugged, in which case open your computer case and check that the card that your speaker cables are plugged into is firmly seated into the motherboard slot.
