I am a fourteen year old girl and have been going to a female doctor. She has recently quit and I will have to have a male doctor. Does anyone else have a male doctor too and feel weird? I am also afraid that if he touches me I will get wet and aroused.

Relax! Doctors usually are professional and wont embarass you.

If you are uncomfortable talk to your parents about it and see if they can switch you to another female doctor.

i'm a 16 year old girl and yes i have a male doctor, i've known him since i was little so i feel totally comfortable around him. but if you don't like the idea you need to speak up. just to reassure you though, i'm sure the doctor would be totally professional but yeah, if you feel weird definitely ask for a female doctor.

I have had male docs examine me. At first I felt weird but once he started he was very professional and I was able to relax. Plus he had a female nurse present in the room.

If a male doctor has to examine you, he has to have a female in the room, either a nurse or doctor. It does feel a bit wierd at first, but you have to remember that he does that all day every day, and to him its the same as flipping burgers or washing cars, just a day job

Your feelings are very normal and VERY common for somebody in your situation. If you would like, ask for a female to be present or just bear with it. Doctors are very used to all sort of different bodies reacting differently in every situation, and they don't take anything personally, I'm sure you will find thing to be very professional and after your first examination be quite comfortable however if you are not, for any reason, call or have your parents call in and ask for a referral to a female doctor, they won't be upset and will be very happy to offer you somebody.

When you first see the doctor, concentrate on how ugly he is. Even if he is not, focus on every pimple, every flaw in his skin, focus on his bad haircut, his crooked teeth, his flabby body- anything negative about his looks. Focus on those bad things so much that he looks hideous to you. Then, he will not turn you on.

I always preferred male doctors because female doctors have always been very rough. Believe me, becoming aroused will be the last thing on your mind.

well i have a male doctor aka "gynocologist" and he is the best doctor ever yes i was nervous the first time but it was more worst than u think......i was on my period the first time i went. He did a pap test, and an ultrasound ((i guess thats how u spell it....but u know what im talkin bout)) it was horrible but All i kept thinkin was that im sure he has seen worse u gotta think they deliver babies too lol

I have had a male doctor do all of my exams except two for the past 15 years. My very first exam was done by a female and I had one exam done by a female about six years ago. I much prefer my male doctor, but he has unfortunately retired and I am now stuck with an unfamiliar female. I have never had a problem with sexual arousal during exams. The position is not particularly comfortable and the touch is very clinical. Best of luck to you. I know it sucks to lose the doctor you are comfortable with.
