Has anyone heard anything about the rumor that the Department of the Interior was considering hiring a renowned artist to add a bust of Ronald Reagan to Mount Rushmore

I have not heard that and would not visit the site if they added his image.That would be a disaster.

I find it ironic that so many Republicans whine about Obama "being worshipped" and yet they name airports and aircraft carriers after Bu$h and Reagan, and they also want to carve Reagan into mount rushmore.

Part of the problem? The current carvings/busts are already decaying. Carving another head could lead to damage to the others. such has been considered, and some Republicans suggested replacing Lincoln's head with Reagans.

It would be a good idea, but only if they installed a toilet on the top of his head.

It was talked about amongst bloggers, NPR, GOP sites and coffeeshops but there is no evidence at all that anything was ever officially suggested by someone with the will and means to make it happen.

It would be disastrous, logistically, and basically pointless, not to mention offensive to the soul of Borglum.

I am glad they are almost done with the Crazy Horse memorial, though.

I have heard that, and if you look at the mountain, there really isn't room. It's an urban legend that was created just after his death.

Smells like a combination of urban legend and wishful thinking on the part of some.

I can't imagine adding Reagan to Mount Rushmore any more than adding Kennedy...
