If you have evidence that you made the January payment on your loan and that your account was correctly credited, you should make copies of those documents and find out from Wells Fargo to whom you should send that documentation. If it is the case that Wells Fargo credited you for a payment that you did NOT make, then I would recommend that you pay the proper amount. The big problem you have is that WF can report your failure to pay to credit reporting agencies. This would adversely affect your credit rating and you'd have to spend a lot of time and effort fighting over that. Good luck.
