  • I consider myself to be a Christian and I do not drink alcohol. The reason I don't drink is because I feel no need to consume mind altering substances of any sort. I am quite capable of relaxing and having a good time with out them. Besides, if I don't start using such substances, then I don't have to worry about getting addicted to them. So, I just prefer to avoid such things. You can use alcohol if you like. That is up to you, but I simply choose not to.
  • Yes I drink alcohol I don't have a problem with it so enjoy the occasional glass of beer or spirit.
  • I am a Christian and I don't drink. It's not because of religious conviction but because I am an obnoxious drunk and can't stand myself when I drink. I also don't want my son to be a drinker. Alcoholism runs in my and his father's family and I don't want him to continue the cycle.
  • Yes I'm a Christian and I do drink wine with my meals. I'll have a margarita with some friends. I don't, however, drink to get drunk. No sense in it really, to me. I don't want to feel like crap. With me, it has nothing to do with being a Christian, just personal preference.
  • Jesus told them, "Fill the jars with water." So they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, "Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter." So they took it. And when the headwaiter tasted the water that had become wine, ... (John 2:7-9) Wine is used throughout both the Old and New Testaments. The first recorded miracle of Jesus was to turn water in wine at the wedding in Cana. It is true that we should not become drunk but used in moderation, wine is a biblically acceptable beverage. Go, eat your bread with joy and drink your wine with a merry heart, because it is now that God favors your works. (Ecclesiastes 9:7) What would Jesus do? Jesus had a cup of wine with dinner. If some people wish to totally forego alcohol to eliminate the temptation to over indulge, that's fine. But I don't think they should force that unbiblical practice onto others. With love in Christ.
  • as a christian, i try to live by the principles taught in the bible. drinking alcohol in itself is not a sin. the sin is to abuse of drinking. i personally do not drink. reason being i don't feel a need to. i am a very boisterous person to begin with. i do not need outside stimulation. however, those who wish to in moderation are again not sinning. the apostle paul told timothy to drink a little wine for his digestive problems.(1Timothy 5:23)wine has been a favorite beverage since early mankind. at times i wish i did enjoy wine just a little, since my husband is quite the connoisseur! he too is a christian.
  • i'm catholic but i live life to the complete fullest which totally includes partying!of course i don't go out and drink every night but i don't think it's a sin to drink at parties and get wild at times.it's life,so don't hold back and live it to the fullest or you will so regret it!
  • I am a Catholic and I drink. If Jesus turned Water into Wine at a wedding, he did not have any issue with people drinking.
  • I am a Christian from an evangelical standpoint. I do not drink alcohol, not from a theological or conscience perspective but simply because I do not like it. If especiall given something I will take it or sip some for a toast! I also believe that it is impossible from the bible to hold a biblically theo;ogical teetotal standpoint. Those that claim to be able to do so are not reading the clear intention of scripture!
  • Yes. Yes. I enjoy it and I am certain God has no objection so long as I do not break any of his commandments while doing so.
  • I need to drink to cope with the hypocrisy of the bible and the church
  • I'm a believer, but not a churchmouse. I drink, but I've never been drunk. I don't get drunk for various reasons... I don't like recreational highs (I see no problem with others, as long as they aren't obnoxious), I don't enjoy beer (though fuzzy navels, margaritas, wines, etc. are nice), I don't need the calories (I try to drink water instead), I'd rather spend my money on my hobbies (I rarely dine out on my own dime and photography's expensive), and because 3 of my grandparents were alcoholics.
  • I am not, though I used to be, and I don't anymore for health reasons.
  • I drink beer because I like beer and the Bible only says not to be a drunkard.
  • I am a Christian and I do not drink. This is because I am an alcoholic and once I start drinking I can't stop. I've been sober since July 1990, and for me, this is the only way to go.
  • I love the lord very much, and I enjoy the comfort of drinking in moderation. Moderation is the key word here. Drinking is not the sin, drinking too much is the sin. The lord loves us and wants us to enjoy our lives...so let the festivities continue, eat drink and be merry, just do it responsibly...everything in moderation.
  • I am a christian and I dont drink alcohol very much. I might have a beer on a hot day, or with a meal. Or I might have a mixed drink like a screw driver and get tipsy. But generally, I would rather have a cup of coffee or a cold pepsi. I dont understand why people like to drink. It makes no sense to me. Its a big waste of money. christians can do whatever they want. the problem comes when they spend the rent money or injure someone or drive drunk.
  • I am a Christian and I do drink a glass of wine on occasion. I may drink a wine cooler in the summer. Moderation is the key. As a christian we do have to be concerned about offending others. And as christians we also need to read the word and know what it says for ourselves. If we take one passage of scripture and say that we should not drink wine, maybe all christians should be vegetarians.
  • I am, and have had a bad drinking problem in the past. I do not drink now, as I finally got over that, but still our church does not prohibit the consumption of alcohol. My quitting was not because of the church, but my own decision. Same can be said about tobacco.
  • Jesus Turned Water to Wine, Jahwah Applauses Drunks
  • I am a Christian, and I will have the occasional glass of wine or mixed drink. I have been trying to find this answer myself and have not found a clear answer anywhere. I think one thing we need to realize is that wine back in the biblical times was maybe not what we see now. It could have been stronger or more watered down. It does say not to get drunk and not to get to the point of having a mind altering experience. Heck though certain meds can do this to ppl are you not supposed to take them? I am very sensitive to pain killers, but there is no way I would not take them when I had my children, I am not a super woman. I will drink in moderation and not get drunk but to each his own, I suppose.;-}
  • I am a Christian, and I don't drink, though I am of age. The Bible speaks of those who are not wise who are deceived with strong drink (alcohol) and how strong drink is raging, in that it makes many angry and irritable. We are to be filled with the Spirit, and not filled with booze, for while many people drank wine instead of water, that wine was watered down, and only because it purifies the water, and the water was not safe to drink.
  • Jesus drank wine. Not watered down wine. Excess in anything is not good. Wine drinking is ot condemned in the word. It is getting intoxicated is cautioned.
  • Im a christian who enjoys a drink for the flavor not the behavior.
  • Im a catholic. I tried to drink myself to death when my best bud died, but then he came to me in my dreams and told me to stop. so I have.
  • Remember the feast of Cana? (Bible)
    • Jenny_Rizzo
Agreed. The feast of Cana was a wedding feast that had music, dancing, food and wine.
  • The Bible condemns drunkenness, but encourages a believer to drink wine with "moderation." In my Italian tradition, having a good dinner with a good wine is the Ecclesiastes Of Wisdom For Living Well. Ecclesiastes 9:7 "Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works."
  • I'm a Christian and do not drink Alcohol. I don't have anything against drinking a glass of wine with a meal now and then. Alcohol is not a part of my life and from what I've seen it do to others, I'll keep it that way.
