With DSL, what is "dry loop"?

    A "dry loop" is also termed "Naked DSL". This is a telephone line in place for the sole purpose of providing DSL. There is no dial tone on the line so no calls can be made from it (excluding VoIP of course, but that's different).

    Not all DSL providers or Telcos are offering Naked DSL yet. With the demise of line-sharing, more and more companies will be making this product availible.
