I cannot understand why this question was downrated it is a little cynical but sadly the answer is fearsome. Yes the US and other western states sell massive amounts of weapons of mass destruction to those who they will in the future fight with. That is how they think they know what each country holds in weaponry. It is big business with the businessmen who sell the weapons being in places of authority. It pays them to fight in order to sell thir wares and that is before oil comes into the equation. Thank you for a very relevant question!

Not for the United States, but for certain corporations. Our education is not getting better, our health care is getting worse, if it were truely profitable for the whole of the US, that would be one thing. Also, the untied states better tie it's shoe (almost fitting typo).

Profitable??? Try the opposite of that! This war and the rest of our global police actions are putting the U.S. DEEP into debt, beyond our wildest imagination. You (me), your children, your grand children, etc. will all be slaves to this debt as well. Do you realize that we are borrowing $3 BILLION (yes, that's a B) per DAY from foreign countries (i.e. China) to fund our military globe trotting? It's quite disturbing to think about the future implications of this EXTREME borrowing. If you want to see any change brought about, I highly suggest that you look into Ron Paul, as he is the ONLY politician (yes, only) addressing this issue.

For some individuals in the United States. Not for The US in itself.
