  • That makes just as much sense as anything else I've heard.
  • I don't think so. Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs, and what you're saying does make a lot of sense. It could be possible. And btw, I'm going to give you some points because I think you might get DRed by some people :)
  • In my humble opinion yes it is but we all have the right to choose and if that is what you believe then you are free to do so as long as you do not insist that others believe the same!
  • I never thought of it that way... I like that... Did you think of that yourself, or did you hear it from somewhere else?
  • No. You are allowed the same freedom of thought as those who believe in God. If you truly believe it then it is not inherently wrong. If you try to push the idea on people just to make them uncomfortable or upset then that is a bit wrong.
  • Nope, you are not wrong. You are absolutely right.
  • Very little is completely wrong. The fantasy of Santa Claus is based on the reality of St. Nicholas of Myra, a fourth century Catholic bishop, a man with great faith in the reality of God. http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/11063b.htm Even Atheists and Agnostics have standards of behavior and ways of making people behave. With love in Christ.
  • No, it's not wrong because that's your own personal opinion
  • Well, if by "God" you mean YHVH Elohim - "the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob", then, YES, it is completely wrong of you to think that. He's no fantasy and He's no Santa. Also, if by "God" you mean any of the supreme gods of most pagan and quasi-pagan (like Buddhism AND Islam as they are practiced in most of Asia and Africa respectively) religions of past or present, then, again, YES, you're completely wrong, as these gods are not judges, as such, but are guides, exemplars, or functionaries: the "be good or else!" component of these religions is just a belief in an eternal impersonal law of right and wrong and cause and effect (e.g., Dharma & Karma; the Tao)
  • As an Agnostic, I have kind of thought the same thing. LoL Because, no one really knows the answer to the ultimate question: Is there truly a God. Yet, it's easier for kids, because eventually in their lifetime, they get told the truth about Santa. In comparison, as we grow and develop our own beliefs as adults, we will never know the whole truth and nothing but the truth about the existence of God.
  • Not at all and that's a pretty accurate way of understanding one side of theism. The other side though is that the God of the bible, if you are referring to the Judeo Christian deity, is a psychopathic projection of an immature ego. And don't worry about those whining about offending someone with your question. They have nothing of value to contribute.
  • Has this question been edited because it doesn't say anything about stupidity yet many of the answers imply that it does?
  • If you had left your Q at: "Is it wrong for me to think of God as Santa Claus"? I would have said, 'Not necessarily!' Leaving it at that, may i say that God is, indeed, the Real "Father Christmas"! ... and 'Sandy' is in short and kids' fun for Father Christmas. For He was the first to give everything: He gave His Son to us that night in Bethlehem. That was the first Christmas; from that stand, one may say that God became the first Santa Claus.
  • You can believe whatever you want to, but nobody I know thinks of Him that way. Santa threatens bad children with a box of coal, but it never really happens. God presents us with a way to live happy, effective lives, plus eternal companionship with Him, and all we need to do is make the effort, and admit when we fail. God is Santa? You might as well say that Charles Dickens is your dad. Total non sequitor.
  • You can think whatever you want to think. God grants us free will. But it is at your own risk.
  • I wont say your wrong for thinking he is a fantasy...but I can promise you one thing..if you ask God to make himself known to you so you can know for yourself he's real...he will =]
  • Please study history! Santa Claus was put there so we'd forget the true meaning of Christ-mas. Seek the truth before they make it so can't find it.
  • god gave you free will so you can believe anything you want, just don't stand out side whining when st. peter slams the pearly gates in your face.
  • No....but I dont see it as fantasy, I see how some could. I see it more as God the creator...and the reasons for the "rules" or "commandments" arent to MAKE people behave...but set them free, and to show them a way of living where they wouldnt WANT to do things that are wrong.
  • no, whatever helps you
  • no ... there is nothing wrong with showing your high IQ. ;-)
