  • "He who gives up freedom for safety deserves neither" - Ben Franklin I need my FREEDOM.
  • Freedom - to provide my own safety.
  • Safety
  • I prefer safety. It is much better to be safe than dead.
  • I think safety, without safety your freedom could be dramatically restricted!
  • Freedom is more important to me.I'm not worried about the safety thing.I have 2 pit bulls and a glock 45 that handle that for me.
  • I would rather die on my feet than live on my knees just to remain safe.
  • I think safety and freedom are entangled because if you can't do this or that for safety matters, your freedom will be limited. Conversely, safety can reduce your freedom: if you never go out on a limb, never meet people for fear of danger, never go out at night, never try anything new, u will be safer but will neither be free nor happy. So we need to find a balance between safety and freedom. I think that nowadays this balance leans more and more towards safety. An emblematic example is the war on terrorism which is actually a war on islamism. It is accepted because it is supposed to increase the westeners safety (at the expense of Iraqi or Afghan safety) but in fact it can only have an inverse consequence because those people will hate you more so it feeds terrorism. Besides, it reduces people freedom through anti terrorist laws and all sorts of safety measures. This so called war on terrorism only serves corporate and political interests on the backs of people. Talleyrand said:" il faut secouer le peuple avant de s'en servir". = Shake the people before you use it. Governments helped by the medias want you to be scared. They pretend that your safety is threatened in order to limit your freedom, control you and maintain the oligarchy on power.
  • I have to echo the first to the third poster's on this, well said! Freedom is number 1 in my book as well! Safety in my opinion comes with freedom without question.
  • Without freedom there is no safety!
  • freedom is more important to me.there is no quality of life without freedom.
  • Freedom. we are not all scared/fearful of the same things so any safety measures put in place NOT chosen by me do not benefit me.
  • Great question. I prefer safety.
  • freedom. safety is an illusion, you are never truly safe when you live in this world, so why sacrifice your freedom for it?
  • Freedom. Depending on the Govt to keep us "safe" is a good start down the path to a dictatorship...
  • I don't believe I could ever feel safe if I wasn't free and depending on what our safety concerns are I doubt that anyone is ever completly safe.
  • Freedom without question. If one mans freedom is allowed to be taken for the others safety, how will that one man be able to defend the freedom of the other should the freedom of the other be thretened?
  • Give me a loaded rifle, and the question is moot.
  • Freedom!
