If that is true I do not know. How someone could be so overcome with grief at the death of someone they never even met is beyond me. I can understand being sad, upset, even depressed; but taking your own life due to a celebrity dying to me is stupid. I'm sorry, but that is how it strikes me.

People who are mentally ill do not up and kill themselves over night. The manifestation of suicide is a process that masks it self in the form of many things. Obsessive thoughts are a process that take years to months it is not an impulsive act. Suicidal thoughts start way before the attempt way before. The obsessive thoughts go on for a long time. the isolation of these thoughts leaave the victim ostrized from the class room to the family and family fuctions and outings soon there is a disconnection from sports social connections and soon many interests disapear. Soon the victim start to hang out with other people with the same youthful angst, drugs soon come into the picture and self medication begin, Unsavory friends now become the focus soon this group of friends make the connection between themselves and the people who identify with them and their music and the problems soon the music the drugs and the obsessive thought s combine and evolves into some thing greater than themselves and their newly found music godd. The obsession with their god has now reached maximum over drive. With this teenage angst and hero worship long live the King, With their godd dead at the height of his career leave this impresionable teenagers without a godd, the obsessive compulsive hero worshiping boys see the death of their world as they know it, and with it gone and no identification with what is around them they soon see that there is know one who understands them, there problems come to the vangaurd of their life. They must go out the same way their god did. impresionable young boys find no other solution and in a split second. It is to late for talking with their parents teachers counselours where was every body when they were here. where were they when they were ignored. sad but true we forgot that they were young boys before they were the geeks, the stoners, the wana be's, but it's too late to say goodbye. Love your youth for they are our future. Remember that they are just kids trying to make it in this world.

Cobain was more than a celebrity. He was the leader of a movement. I could see some misguided people killing themselves.

well theyre idiots...but i believe get (emotionally) attached to the celebrity and will follow the trends...including death...god help us if metallica commit suicide ¬¬

Because those people may have made Kurt Cobain their life and identity. Kind of a sad lifestyle if you ask me.
