Traffic officers are a necessity. if these officers did not enforce the traffic violations, the auto accident rate in America would soar out of sight. if all drivers obeyed the laws, then and only then would traffic officers not be necessary. Someday, when you have time, pull over to the side of the road and observe people driving on the interstate and other roads. be observant. you are going to be shocked at what you see. cars weaving in and out of traffic, no seat belts, following too closely and the list goes on. these are the ingredients for a deadly accident about to occur. Without traffic officers, traffic flow in the United States would be deadlocked. Think about this.

When I was in Bonaire, a little island of 10,000 residents and 742 square miles, I saw one cop. He was asleep in his car, parked outside the police station, which was about as big as my house. (read: little) There are 2 stop signs on the whole island. Everyone knows how to merge. They know and apply simple rules like: the busy road has right of way. They also know if they drive too fast, they'll hit a donkey. or a goat. or a child. In America, we're not that nice, so we need transit cops to remind us that we're inconsiderate butt-heads with a penchant for unsafe speeds.
