  • You mean besides scratching it? heh A friend of mine told me that she found hot baths (As hot as you can stand it) with a generous supply of Baby Oil in the tub helped her out (Please don't ask why we were talking about her "itching"! heh) Then she, er, washed herself with the mixed water in a, um, personal manner while she was in the tub... Worked for her, maybe it'll work for you... (Yeah, did you see the "heh"? It was a joke. And I am simply giving out something I was told)
  • Apple Cider vinegar (about 1-2 tablespoons) diluted in warm water (approx a cup) and used as a topical wash on the vulva and in the vagina. It will sting initially, likely, but this will subside as it begins to work. Usually 2-3 applications will take care of the itching and possibly even one dose is enough. It is also a wise idea to look for the source. Do you suffer from this constantly or have chronic yeast infections? You would need to address this to prevent it happening again. It is also best to use organic apple cider vinegar to eliminate any impurities. Edited 2 May 2004: To Drinking Dano: I know you were joking, but someone might take it seriously :) I wasn't disputing you were told this, I just know that baby oil isn't something that should be used, this is from my experience teaching NFP and CBE classes and my studies in Women's Health.
  • I wouldn't recommend self-help for such complaints. I think it is best that you consult a diagnostic clinic as the reasons for such a condition could be several and you need to be sure that it isn't a serious problem. If you choose to do this, I would recommend that you also have a full diagnostic checkup, as this will reveal if there are any latent/hidden problems that aren't apparent to you, aswell as answering some niggling problems that you may have put up with throughout your life. There's no pain involved (as they take urine samples for analysis) just some time/visits and some waiting. A friend of mine was astonished to find what was in her body after going through this process and it answered many questions for her too.
  • Warm bath with dissolved baking soda.
  • 1) "Sitz in some salt. Several forms of vaginitis will often respond to a simple home remedy—the saline sitz bath. Here's the recipe from Gideon Panter, M.D., a gynecologist in New York City. Dissolve a half-cup table salt in a shallow tub of warm water. In the tub, insert your finger into your vagina to let the warm salt water in, then remove your finger and relax for 10 to 15 minutes. Two or three consecutive nights of sitz baths should ease the itch, if yours is home treatable, Dr. Panter says." Salve or ointments with Goldenseal (purchase at health food store) Wheat germ oil. Hot shallow bath with sage, nettle or slippery elm tea added Diluted vinegar splashed on area." • For years I suffered off and on from vaginal itching (vulva only - no yeast infection). I was able, at one time, to get help from prescriptions from my ob/gyn, but then they stopped working. The usual yeast treatments didn't help either. There was no evidence of infection - just itching. I was frantic. Nothing over the couter helped either, and I tried about everything. I mentioned it to my family doctor, and he suggested I try Tinactin cream (used for athletes foot and jock itch). I don't know why, but it works. I've used it for years. Just apply on the vulva and within a few days the itch should almost be gone. I use it until the symptoms go away, and sometimes I don't have this problem again for up to a year. Hope it helps you too.

  • If you have itching or burning in the genital area and increased amounts of discharge that has an abnormal color, odor, or consistency, you probably have a vaginal infection. This is particularly due to dryness and vaginal discharge. This is the first symptom generally observed during yeast infections. This kind of yeast infection looks like other skin infections characterized by itching and redness. Destinol, the miracle product for Bacterial Vaginosis and specifically designed for getting rid of vaginal odor, is making waves. And it works beautifully over antibiotic treatment, since it displays no side effects. http//www.destinol.com
  • I was taking herbal medicine. My home remedy was as follows:- To treat itching:- apply coconut oil. Castor oil is a better option to relieve from itching. Keep the area dry. For instant remedy, you can apply plain yogurt in the area. It stinks on the knickers.. so apply perfume on your outer clothes. It kept me going for 7 to 8 hours. If it itches again, clean the area and apply plain yogurt again. And..Of course, change your knickers. For oral consumption to treat itching: Take 3 tablespoon of fenugreek powder (ground fenugreek seeds). Put it in half a cup plain yogurt. Add loads of sugar (honey is even better) as fenugreek powder is bitter in taste. Eating this mixture produces good bacteria to attack the ones causing the itching. Eat this mixture atleast once a day. Treat white discharge: I had coriander seed water - obtained by soaking 1 tablespoon of coriander seeds overnight and discarding the seeds. I also ate banana mixed with clarified butter (ghee). Treat intestinal worms: I ate crushed garlic 4 little piece + honey on empty stomach for a few days. I also had cloves in my handbag and keep chewing it per convenience. It helps to kill eggs of worms. I had 1 table spoon of coconut scraping. After 3 hours, I drank 350ml of milk with 40 ml of castor oil. Castor oil fights inflammation in stomach. Causes loose motion and cleanses the bowels. So make sure you do this on weekend when at home. I did this on two different days. I also had pappaya + honey on empty stomach for a few days. I recommend acting fast to get rid of the problem. I took long time to do home remedies and it is nearly a month I am cured now. Use as much home remedies as possible. If it drags longer, you will loose patience with it.
  • There are things that can be causing the itching. For one change your soap. Many soaps today have perfumes that cause reaction with the skin. use dove soap. the original. And don't use any body washes. Or body oils. If you are using wipes and they have aloe or perfume that may be a problem. If you like to clean with something wet just wet the toilet paper. If non of those are the problem then try rinsing out with a douch made of just vinegar and water once a day for no more than 3 days. Be sure to clean properly after sex as well. Left over sperm drying will cause itchness. Wash with cool water and don't scratch the skin. Don't take hot baths, that will only dry your skin and baths introduce your vagina to germs in the water. The itching can also be caused by hair being trapped under the skin which will happen more often if you shave or wax. If your going through menopause, you will suffer dryness and that will cause itching. Find a perfume free lubricant. If its just on the outside and you need a quick fix, splash with some witch hazel or listerine and then let it dry. It will sting like hell but then it should go away for the rest of the day. After a few times it will stay gone longer. If it starts to feel dry then use some Cetaphyl lotion. Its not greasy and is for allery sufferers. Just only put it on the skin and not the vulva area. Hope something works for you.
