If every gay man, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgendered came out of the closet in America, what percentage of Americans would be GLBT? I would think about 20-25%.

There's absolutely no way to calculate that. I highly doubt one in every four Americans are closeted/gay, though.

I think one out of four people is a bit high. I'd offer a slightly more conservative guess of 10-15% Probably closer to 15%. At the very least that would be my guess for this general area. Maybe if I saw more of the US I could give you a better guess.

you might be a little high, but, I'd have to agree the percentage would be higher than the alleged 10% of the population. I'd guess between 15 and 20%

I don't know what the percentages are. I do know that a lot of 'straight' married men go out for gay sex--the trouble is they will never admit it..You only see it when public figures are caught in the act.

I think about 17% would be 100% gay/lesbian , 1% trannies, shemales etc, and if every one was 1000% totally honest 25% both males and females would be true bisexuals and the other55% or so would be straight..well ...all with their own little kink(s)

I have nothing to back up my answer, but I guess that it would be lower than 15%. I only think it might be that high by including bisexual people. If it's just gays, lesbians, and transgendered, then it's 10% or fewer.

Pretty solid research says about 2% to 3%. The highest estimate I can find from a source that seems somewhat neutral is 8%.

a lot more than what people realize. I can't begin to tell you the number of "straight" men who tried to pick me up when I was younger..There are a lot of men out there living a lie.

If you go by the results of scientific researchers who specialize in human sexuality, you are pretty close. The Indiana University Kinsey Reports, Homosexuality/Heterosexuality by McWhirter, Sanders, and Reinisch, & The Janus Report on Sexual Behavior all showed similar results regarding those who are exclusively homosexual being 9-14% for males and 2-6% for females. Since all three studies have similar results, Kinsey's figures regarding bisexual people are most likely correct and would lead to a conclusion of a total 26% being Gay, Lesbian, or Bisexual.

25-35%. I think about 15% of the population is bisexual, while 10-15% is homosexual. Add in the Transgendered individuals and I think it would rise another 3-5%.
