Cheating is not about sex, it's about lies. It's about deciet. If your partner is unaware, that's because you did not tell them. If you did not tell them, I'm guessing it's because you think they would not approve. If they don't know, and would not approve, and you do it anyway, that's cheating.

'Isn't involved' and 'not aware' can be 2 different things. You can sleep with someone else and she can be aware of it and give you permission for it, and that's not cheating. If she's not aware then it's cheating.
