  • Some countries have special missles set up to intercept nuclear missles coming their way. They have their own systems that would blow up the bomb in mid-flight, before they were of any danger to us.
  • If you mean ballistic missiles, the US's tests, rigged to varying degrees, have had some success in intercepting them. The system doesn't guard against low-flying cruise missiles; I'm not sure if an AWACS radar plane could locate these and direct jet planes to try and shoot them down. The real threat to is a small nuke driven into a city or smuggled into a port.
  • Throw rocks at it
  • There is an abort code sequence, similar to that required to launch it.
  • There is only two ways to stop it from exploding, one is to abort it (abort code entered from HQ) and the other is to blow it apart! Blowing it apart is VERY hard to do as even the best guidance system in the world is not that great! . Intercepting it on its way to the target would cause it to explode into (hopefully) a non important area and that would be the best bet if it was fired over a sea!
