  • "I'm not a doctor, but I play one on Answerbag." It could be sort of a cycle where it got irritated for whatever valid reason, you rubbed or scratched it, irritating it more, and so on. Usually the first approach for something like this is just to break the irritated-scratch-irritated cycle. If you're sure there's no infection, get an OTC 1% hydrocortisone cream and use as directed for a few days. If you think it has become infected, you should start with a triple antibiotic; hydrocortisone can aggravate an infection.
