  • Weather is a very complex system. You have highlighted only one of many variables.
  • Winds are basically caused by air being forced from an area of high pressure to an area of low pressure. This is an over-simplification, but in northern latitudes the low pressure systems tend to be farther to the south (and therefore affecting the area in which you live) in the winter than in summer. Isobars are more closely packed in low pressure systems than in high. The tighter the isobars are, the stronger the winds will be and isobars are closer together in areas of low pressure than in high.
