    I can think of several: Sewer cleaner, Road kill scraper, fish factory worker, etc.

    But the absolute worst one would be whoever has to inform parents/loved ones that their child/loved one was killed (car wreck, in Iraq, etc.). That to me would be the worst thing to ever have to do whether you are the policeman that has to do it, doctor, preacher, or whoever.

    I agree w/ Steve... maybe a galley slave would be even worse.

    Or a soldier on in the Red Army during WW2... massed suicidal attacks with the commisars shooting you if you retreat, and imprisoning you and your family if you're captured and manage to live.

    There was a question like this recently and I said something like "assistant animal remains recovery officer".

    Discover magazine did an article on the worst jobs in science and the worst was having to treat anal warts. The people doing the job have an 80% chance of contracting anal warts. (I hope they're paid well)

    I worked construction in the Georgia heat one summer. I thought that was the worst job ever until I saw the guy laying the pavement for the car park.

    He sat over a boiling tub of tar in 100 degree heat! it stunk.

    That or being a gardener, I worked for "gardening service" for a very short time, and whenever work was brought up with my friends I kept getting called the "white gardener".
