  • Used cars. Usually a small compact like Fiesta, a cooper mini etc. However I have seen decently priced trucks and larger vehicles in decent condition. I do not know where you live. If it is in snow country where deicing programs are used every year (salt, ash, etc) then you may discover that older cars are rusted out pretty badly underneath. If you live in no-snow areas you may find that rust is not a problem. Police Auctions (where they take vehicles related to crimes) usually have the very best deals when it comes to cars. However Police Auctions rarely take place all the time - around here its once a year and bidding is done for a bit of time. Estate Sales can have a car or two - usually an estate sale takes place after someone dies - since mostly old people die you get vehicles which have been treated a bit better than one owned and operated by a 20-something year old. Used car lots can be better when it comes to auto-purchase - many regions now have very tough laws on the condition and quality of the car being sold. Buyer Beware - if the contract says "As Is" then what you see is what you get.
