    Like anyplace else, it has a culture.

    The quality of articles vary widely from utterly brilliant to utterly crappy.

    It does tend to explode over issues of policy and administration, with some feeling it is too managed and others believing it's too loose.

    It's an oligarchy, not a democracy, so it isn't always perceived to be fair.

    It burns users out the way that AB does, with some taking widely publicized vacations or retirements, and others just fading away into the background.

    It can be fickle, cliquish, and meme-obsessed.

    So yeah, it's a bit volatile. :)
