  • Yes. A brain is very similar to a computer. Sleep is basically the brain shutting down into a standby mode in order to understand and file all the information that has been introduced to it throughout the day before hand. So sleep is for the brain and not the body, the body can actually function quite easily without sleep as long as it rests every now and again. If you have too much of an information back-log to compile then your brain will crash, just like a computer will. It will simply stop working and all of your bodily functions will desist to work in the same way they would if your body got too cold. The agreed time one can go without sleep is approximately three weeks but I wouldn't advise it! www.serendip.brynmawr.edu/biology/b103/f01/web3/chaudhuri.html www.home.nc.rr.com/dcleblond/writing/tosleep.html www.howstuffworks.com/time1.htm Clark Cox: What do you think the URLs are for?
