The new series is a lucrative expansion on a brand that was estabilished in the 60's. Kind of an after thought that was spawned after the writers hit the wall and had no place else to go. No reference to Archer is made in any other series. Not by Kirk, Picard, Cisco or Janeway.

No, since Enterprise was made basically after all the other series relevant to the beginning of Trek had finished. However Enterprise has attempted to make reference to later series and characters. The episodes "The Augments" brings in Dr. Soong, the creator of Data. Dr. Soong's passing comments at the end of the episodes refers to cybernetics as a viable way to create a perfect being, which of course is a legacy that eventually begat both Data, Lore, and B-4.

Not explicitly, but there was a planet called "Archer IV" mentioned in TNG. Of course, since TNG was made before Enterprise, it was actually the other way around: They named the character after the planet...

Of course not. 1.) "Enterprise" was produced after any of the other shows. 2.) "Enterprise" was a revision of Federation history. Archer and his Enterprise never existed! Kirk's Enterprise (though Kirk was NOT the first captain of it) was the original NCC-1701 Enterprise.

well, even though there are not any references to the enterprise series or archer in the other shows (that i can recall), it does not make it a bad question. i think he was more wondering if the archer character was spawned from a passing, non-important idea or reference from another show.

apparently the new movie coming out will reference Archer. it would be really stupid if it didn't.
