  • The one I like is longueur. Byron said that we might not have the word for it in England but we certainly have the thing.
  • The French have (perhaps unofficially) taken in: le shampooing le weekend le pique-nique probably much to the dismay of the Academie Francaise. English has a lot of such words, largely as a result of its former "empire", so words from India such as: jodhpurs chukka and many more.
  • So many words come from French: coup d'etat rendevous deja vu There are lots more but I can't think of any now.
