So many words come from French:

    coup d'etat
    rendevous
    deja vu

There are lots more but I can't think of any now.

The French have (perhaps unofficially) taken in:

    le shampooing
    le weekend
    le pique-nique

probably much to the dismay of the Academie Francaise.

English has a lot of such words, largely as a result of its former "empire", so words from India such as:

    jodhpurs
    chukka

    and many more.

The one I like is longueur. Byron said that we might not have the word for it in England but we certainly have the thing.
