You know it wasn't very good until I went there and we had a great, safe, time.
-
Motor City USA, I like it.
-
Yuck!
-
If i ever get there i will let you know.
-
Last time I was there I was 13 years old (I'm now 39!). Liked it when I lived there but at the time it was the Murder Capital, U.S.A.
-
Ugh, too humid. Was there a few years ago in the summertime, no thank you. Though the job was at the Domino's Pizza headquarters (in Ann Arbor) and there was a herd of bison just out there grazing, was pretty cool to look out the window & see those.
-
Well, I lived just outside Detroit most of my life, and I moved far away from there. What does that tell you? There is lots to do downtown and you can have a good time, it's the surrounding areas...the neighborhoods of Detroit and the neighborhoods near there that are bad.
-
I live pretty close to Detroit. I can see Michigan when I look out my window, actually. I don't really have any positive or negative feelings about Detroit though, because I've never been there.
-
It's ok. Just too damn cold...lol
-
Run down city with nice suburbs.
-
Everytime I think of Detroit I think of the film Roger and Me by Michael Moore - I think of a poor woking class town. (even thought the film was about Flint Michigan)
-
I love Detroit! I have been there almost everyday for the past 6 years. There is a little bit of something for everyone. Oh, and great food!
-
It's nice to see some of the improvements that have been made over the past few years. The Super Bowl was a very bid deal for the city, and it was encouraging to hear good things from the people in town for the game. Detroit has (I feel) always gotten a bad rap in the national press (in particular, Rick Reilly, of Sports Illustrated, during the Ryder Cup in 2004.) Detroit has its bad points, just like other large cities, and, just like other large cities, it has its good points
-
I've never been there so I really don't have one.
-
The city has its own beauty when you look deeper...yes much of it has suffered for over 40 years since the riots...but the buildings that survived are gorgeous. The train station is beautiful! They used it in the Transformers movie fyi :) I still have faith in the city. It's the suburbs I can't stand here lol!
-
I lived there for the first 40 years of my life. I still can't put my opinion into words. It was the best of times, It was worst of times. Someone once called Detriot the first dead city in America. That might be true, but I still miss it. By the way, it's the only city in the continental U.S that is due north of Canada.
-
There are very good parts (Novi, Northville, etc.) and some not so good parts. ..pretty much like anywhere else.
-
I love The D thats where im from but it is also dangerous in some area's
-
Murder City USA
-
Put ur hands up for detroit, I love this city!! :P
-
G'day Detroit, Thank you for your question. Detroit is known for its urban decay as seen in Eminem's Eight Mile. However, it has also been the source of great music from Motown to rock (Iggy Pop, MC5, Bob Seger, Kid Rock) to rap (Eminem). So put your hands up for Detroit. Regards
-
cold, dirty and full of crime. life expectancy in that city is an all time LOW! not a good move if thinking about it. Places like Muskegon, Whitehall aren't bad at all. I loved it there; the rest of the state is in a state of emergency if you ask me. No harm intended you Michiganers, my ex is a Wolverine. :o/
-
A city willing to take drastic measures to reduce crime.
-
It's a cadaver.I went there in January and it looks as bad as ever.Beautiful old buildings shot to hell.A once gorgeous Belle Isle looking like a bomb hit it.A mis-managed city run by a mayor that's in alot of trouble with the law.
-
Since I was born there I'm a Detroit sports nut enough said go wings
-
Never been there, but I imagine a lot of smog, from the cars. It got some good advertising in Karate Kid!
-
I've only been in their airport. It appears to be a depressed city, high in unemployment. The sports arenas appear to be top notch. I have a co-worker from Michigan, he doesn't say many positive things about Detroit.
-
It has a long and interesting history. I fear the crime reputation has tainted it though.
-
Crime, drugs, gangs, rap, eminem........
-
I'm not fond of Detroit proper, but the western and northern suburbs are very nice. I have a lot of relatives in the area, so I mostly have been there for family events.
-
I GREW UP AROUND THERE IT IS THE US MURDER CAPITAL IT USED TO BE THE AMERICAN AUTO CAPITAL NOT ANT MORE THE ECONOMY SUCKS NOT MUCH GGOD ABOUT IT ANY MORE SORRY.
-
No offense but my opinio of Detroit is that is full of white-trask people, and loose women
-
Only slightly worse than New Jersey. They should make a new slogan: New Jersey: The state ya gotta go through. Detroit: Welcome to Detroit.....Now, get in the trunk.......
-
i dont know, but i plan to visit there very soon, despite the numerous warnings i have received
-
Honestly I don't bother thinking about it. I live on the other side of the state and we pretty much think of Detroit as our alcoholic/drug addicted/usually jailed cousin.
-
although i feel sorry for the people who are stuck in the poor economy of it all and people asking for change. i cant help but love it! Everything about it exhibits diversity and support! My bf is a detroit firefighter and has nothing bad to say about it what so ever!
-
Never been to Motown. My 2 cents.
-
I love it!
-
only been there once. didnt leave much of an impression. my friend calls it Detoilet, Michigan. the name kinda stuck.
-
Depends on where you go in Detroit. I had just met my boyfriend. Later that week it was New Years Eve. He asked if I wanted to go to Detroit (we are from Lansing) to hang out. I told him no b/c I did not want to get shot. His brother got shot that night! I jinxed them. Kwame didnt help either!
-
Michael Moore says it sucks. Ted Nugent said the mayor is a gangster. Sorry, cant find anything good there.
-
NOT my opinion its a fact that its the worst city in the world. same murder count as new york and we dont have even half the population. NO OFFENSE
-
It reminds me of Gary, Indiana with cars.
-
Way overcrowded.
-
It would be ok with me if we could trade detroit to canada. WE'd be lucky to get a couple of 7th round draft picks
-
My hometown and a city that will hopefully be back strong economically in the near future
-
one of the armpits of america...the other is cleveland
-
detroit is the asshole of the united states
-
Since It's my birth place maybe I'm more bias then most people but I'm saddened as of what has happen to a once wonderful and proud city, I cant help wonder that detroit was given up for dead long ago It's my opinion that once Motown Records left the city It just seemed to give up and that Is truly sad and now that the economy has worsened up there many more problems have emirged.
-
It's a shit-hole. Dirty, broken down, disgusting...
-
gangs and rappers?... I've never been there but that's the opinion I have from across the atlantic
-
Historically, Detroit City is one of America's most precious.
-
i think its a dump. its the dirties, ugliest, most run down city in the country.
-
It should be bombed.
