  • Darker walls with lighter ceilings, and adding mirrors make a room look alot larger!
  • paint it differently. paint the ceiling AND 12" down on the walls (white) and the walls a different colour.; when you carry the ceiling paint onto the top of the walls (about 8 to 12 " down) it gives the illusion of being larger, roomier and higher.
  • Actually, according to designers and shows on HGTV, just the opposite of what the others stated. Continue the wall color up onto the ceiling, creating a room of one solid color. This will give the illusion of more height.
  • Hmmm... maybe you could paint your ceiling to look like the sky (your choice of weather) and then put tiny dots of glow-in-the-dark dimension paint on it in a random spots. Turn out the lights, close the curtains, and you can look at the stars while you fall asleep! (Hehehe, I'm actually thinking of trying this, but my dad'll probably kill me!)
  • Lighter colors help. Darker colors tend to Cozy up a room while lighter colors brighten and expand. the mirrors idea sounds good. Also organizing is ALL important. get rid of the clutter.
