They use the New World translation, which has replaced Almighty God's personal name, Jehovah, [ YHWH / the tetragrammaton/ four letters ] in the 7000 places throughout the Bible from where it was removed [ and replaced with the title LORD] in the false assumption that the name was too Holy to use. In the same manner as Jews always write God as G-d. But they ALSO use OTHER translations to show both differences and similarities. Secular academics are also quoted in the regular publications of the Watchtower and Awake magazines. Jehovah's Witnesses continually study the scriptures, complying with Matthew 7;7, Luke 11;9 and 1 Corinthians 12;31.

Several. Mainly the New World Translation. Occasionally the KJV or the NIV or others. Of course, it depends on the language. The Watchtower is in 153 languages, and there is other literature in more. Not all -- not many -- of these have the NWT. The intended audience will also have an effect. Much Witness literature is intended for non-Witnesses to read. A publication aimed at Jews will quote a different translation to one aimed at Catholics. The book Reasoning from the Scriptures quotes ten or more translations, if I remember correctly. i don't know if you know this jerry? but noone actually knows how Jesus's name was actually said, but it doesn't stop many, many people all over the world everyday using the acceptable version of his name and thats the same with Gods name noone knows exactly how it was said but we must all at least try, because the word God is just a title not his real name his name is Jehovah. Psalm 83:18 in some translations it has roodly been replaced with the word LORD.

"Which Bible translations are used by Jehovah's Witnesses?" ... Well, MOSTLY the New World Translation ... which a "translation" that was made by and for the Jehovah's Witnesses! Some Jehovah's Witnesses claim that they often use the King James Version when witnessing to others ... but can never seem to reconcile the conflicting doctrinal teachings from both translations. For example: John 1:1 - "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (King James Version) John 1:1 - "In [the] beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god." (New World Translation) NOTE: The King James Version renders John 1:1 as "the Word ("Logos" or pre-existing, pre-human Jesus Christ) was God ... while the New World Translation renders John 1:1 "the Word was a god." ... these are TWO different teachings about WHO Jesus Christ was/is. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Colossians 1:16-17 - "For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether [they be] thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist." (King James Version) Colossians 1:16-17 - "because by means of him all [other] things were created in the heavens and upon the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, no matter whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. (New World Translation) NOTE: According to the NWT, Jesus didn't create "all things", but rather "all [other] things" ... because, according to their doctrines, Jesus was the FIRST of God's creation ... and all [other] things were created THROUGH Jesus. As is stated in prior answers, the New World Translation is the translation of choice for Jehovah's Witnesses. It is reminiscent of prior "protestant" translations which intent was not to "invent" or distort the original meaning of the scriptures, but to bring clarity to the lay class of religious observers. The Vulgate translation is one that was made to appeal to the same crowd (the word vulgate referring to the "vulgar populous" ofwhich were not as "educated" as the clerical). The King James Version is also one of the "protestant" versions and faced much of the same criticisms as the New World Translation does today. Regardless of this, however, it has served its purpose well and has in fact paved the way for other translations, such as the New World. For this reason, there are many witnesses who have learned the "Truth" (as their teaching is fondly called) through the effective use of the King James Version. Thus the two are predominant in their usage especially in the door to door work. The New World Translation, however, uses more common day terms and helps bring clarity to teachings that contradict the Holy Scriptures, regardless of the translation. One such as: the Trinity teaching (Christ states at John 14:28 that the Father is greater than he, so the John 1:1 translation of the Logos would be incorrectly assumed to mean Jesus is Almighty God and not the sub-ordinate god that he himself claimed to have been).
