More and more employers are asking the question Have you ever been terminated or resigned from a job in lieu of termination on their job applications if you lie and say no when it is yes is there a way they can find out you lied I am in the United States

i guess it's easy to be honest when you live a very straight-laced life like me. never went to detention in school, no principal's office, no traffic tickets, no legal offenses... no drug experimenting... just a goody two shoes..

well I am the same but I have lied usually to keep from hurting someones feelings back in my much younger days I had a major crush on a girl who told me I was too nice for her which I knew was code for sorry dude but your not hot enough for me and believe me that is exactly what it was all this girl dated was hot hunky guys cause that was more important than how someone treated her at least back then anyway long story short she asked me one day if I had any knowledge of her current b/f cheating on her I knew he was but didn't want her thinking I was trying to make trouble so I told her no

Only by asking your former employer. Former employers are most often only going to answer if they would consider rehiring you, for fear of getting sued.

If they do find out, you could be fired. If they find out and don't fire you, they can't fire you later without risk of you suing them.
