There is a special recovery position for use on boats that prevents the body from rolling but it is rarely used or practised in reality because it is extremely uncomfortable since one arms has to be bent right back to give stability. Furthermore, in patients with suspected decompression illness, the patient should not be put into the Trendelenburg position with legs higher than head, as this can cause further injury to the blood brain barrier.
