Why is/was everyone so enamored with Princess Diana? Why was she so missed?

    Primarily because she was someone regular people could identify with. That is, she was a "commoner" who married a prince (what girl doesn't dream of that at some point in her life?) and rose to the occasion without forgetting where she came from. She never pretended to be better than she was, she never lost her head and let her position blow up her ego. She seemed human, and made the royalty seem accessible and friendly. Then she died, and that made her memory live on in that sparkling sort of way it does when people die young.

    First of all, Jim and I will celebrate our 10th anniversary on the day Diana died..in addition to that, she seemed like a good-hearted soul who could relate to the people and went out of her way to call attention to the plight of those less well off and in crisis. She took her boys with her to teach them that others in the world were in need of kindness, assistance and consideration. She may not have been perfect, but I believe sincerely that she got a raw deal and I don't care one bit about Charles and his mistress (she will always be that to me..she does not deserve the title "wife")..and yes, I am an American..perhaps the Brits feel differently..but I am telling you why I am "enamoured" and still feel the loss. :(

    because she was genuine, modest, humble, she was gonna be the future queen and then she died tragically.
