Question

Help answer this question below.

My father has Alzheimer's and can not drive his car any longer. He owe's more on the car then it is worth and my mom does not drive. Should we surrender the vehicle. I know it would ruin his credit but he may be a nursing home within 6-12

Perhaps you should try and sell the car. It's unfortunate that he isn't able to drive because of his condition. Surrendering the car would be my last option. If the car is in good condition and has low mileage, they could make money off it.

If he is not going to need his credit record any more surrender the vehicle, if he will need his credit record then get someone trustworthy to rent the car from you until you can sell it to break even with the bank.
