Is there such thing as a perm that just makes your hair wavy-curly? Maybe a REALLY relaxed perm?

There is a difference in perm solutions, but other factors that determine how your perm turns out are the size of the rods and the condition of your hair, as well as how long the solution gets left on, how well you rinse, how well you get out the excess water before you neutralize, how the hair is sectioned and wrapped, how tight the rods are... many things to consider.

You can get a body wave. At least that's what they called them in the 80s. It's basically exactly what you described.

Sure! Ask your stylist for waves, and that's what you'll get. If you want to do it at home (which I never recommend, but many people do it with no ill effects), use the biggest curlers you can find.
