  • Well, to be very brief on the topic. Scientology is the belief that the mind contains "engrams", which are holdovers from past lives we have lived. The only way to clear these engrams is to have an e-meter, supplied by the Church of Scientology, reading overseen by a higher-up in the church itself. Scientology believes that past negative experiences come to the forefront and manifest themselves as mental illnesses and that medications do not treat these conditions so much as cover them up. Only the church through regular readings and "clearings" can remove the causes of mental illness. Now, I know nothing of the church's take on physical illness, though I do know they sponsor various self-help and group-help organizations in the US and England. I am not a Scientologist but I do find various religious movements fascinating. I took the information for this post from "The New Believers", a compendium of new religious movements (NRM). I hope this gives an overview, but if it was totally unhelpful, well, sorry about that.
  • Sadly, that they don't suffer from them.
  • Scientologists belive that if man is truly happy with himself that he can beat all of the odds and take over his own "thetan" or spirit. That there is really no such thing called ADD or ADHD that children do not really have these illnesses and all they need is a sugar free diet and hard discipline. They also believe that psychiatrists and psychologists are just trying to take over the world and they want to diminish all faith and riun education.
