My husband married me even though he was still married to another woman in Texas. Does this constitute grounds for being able to get an annulment in the state of Virginia? Can you get an annulment without needing a lawyer?

In tennessee, its called bigamy and its still the law here. most states have the same bigamy law. its a minor felony and a warrant can be issued. you apparently did not know this when you married this person. i would at least talk to a lawyer in your state. it should be a freeby.

Were you married in Virginia, or in Texas?
You could probably just walk, and no questions asked.
You should call the District Attorney and ask him or his deputy.
I imagine that you might have to report to the County authorities that you are ending the non-marriage. If you do, your non-husband goes to jail for bigamy, and you walk.

Actually, he committed a crime by marrying you while married to someone else so your marriage is invalid. No annulment is necessary.

is it still null and void in georgia? So i'm not really married to him? Are the laws in georgia if he is still married to someone else, our marriage is not legal, right?
