  • It's probably because we are, by far, the largest and fastest growing of the so called cults. Thus, they see us as the greatest threat to their own religions.
  • Likely because they are bigger thus scarier. If you ask me though, Mormons are pretty stable and those evangelicals are a little more than out there. Anybody see 'Jesus Camp'?
  • God has placed this innate sense within us to know when we are really in the presence of truth. Even though there is much good in the various churches, facing the POWER of Real truth frightens people who cannot handle this type of commitment. They work their minds and consciences Hard to try to invalidate and lessen the power which this truth displays. I have this challenge right now - mainly from atheists and evolutionists, over my discovery that Man and the snake are opposites in nature - which not only tends to disprove evolution, but also verifies the Biblical account of Adam & Eve. These are the challenges which those discovering Breakthrough truth must face!
  • You can similarly ask why LDS bookstores DON'T have a preponderance of the same negative literature. The answer is simple. Mormons don't have paid clergy. Their tithes pay for basic operations, infrastructure and some overhead to keep keep the Church financially and operationally efficient. There are no self-promoting pastors of megacongregations who have to compete with external threats to their income in order to feed their families, deploy their broadcast channels, or sell their books. Therefore it is not a threat to any Mormon's livelihood if someone leaves the LDS church for an Evangelical one. In contrast, there are more Evangelical churches than not whose purpose in passing around the collection plate is to provide a living for its pastor. Christian bookstores, publishing houses, and marketing entities are closely tied to those revenues and therefore have an interest in protecting that income. If your company's customers went to a competitor who provided all its goods at cost or free of charge, the only thing you'd really be able to do is to launch smear campaigns in order to disuade your customers from jumping ship. http://americantestament.blogspot.com
  • The main reason Christians feel the need to expose the truth about Mormonism is that they commonly refer to themselves as Christians. It would be easy for a new Christian to see that Buddhism isn't Christianity, because it doesn't represent itself as such. But a new Christian could easily be taken in by a Mormon who says he/she is a Christian. Christians writers (and bookstores) want to separate themselves from cults who claim to be Christian.
  • Agenda?
  • It probably means that Mormans have been successful in converting evangelicals to Mormanism. Years ago, you would have seen the same thing about meditation and the like... when so many were attracted there. Evangelicals get alarmed when people recruit followers from their ranks, and they think that they have to "save" the people from "herecy."
  • My wife says it's because the real Truth always calls for the biggest reaction - both, positive & negative. Joseph Smith was told as a 17 year-old that his name would be had for both good and evil throughout the world. More than 180 years on, this is, verily , so true. You see, Satan makes sure that he has all guns levelled on the real truth amongst it all!
