Step One: Obtain a service manual from your auto supply. You will as a minimum need a spark plug socket wrench and a timing light, chalk or paint to mart TDC and your advance timing points. I suggest getting a vacuum gauge and dwell tachometer and an analyzer as well. The instruments and tools to do a tunup will cost about $150 for te cheap stuf. Better analyzers can run a good $10,000. Cheap ones you count how many times the light blinks and look up the code in the manual. Sounds easy right? Well it flashes like 8-2-14-1-12-2, Sounds a bit harder? But these analyzers are only about $50 to $80. Timing light is about $50 unless you like using ine in complete dark. Dwell tach #30-40, vacuum gaue about $15 to 20.
