  • Because most not all Americans who use this site are proud and selfcentered. They couldn't care less about the rest of the world. Other Countries around the world can't stand American tourists because of there arrogant attitude.
  • Cultural blinkers. There is a strong tendency within the US to focus on itself to the exclusion of others. This tendency has been created and is reinforced through politics, education, media, socialization, and numerous other aspects of their society. People raised in the US are primed to focus nationally, not internationally. Another poster stated: "the Answer Bag site is about freedom of expression. That is very American." Cultural blinkers: if you are free to express yourself as you wish, you must be in the US. A fallacious statement if there ever was one. In fact, English is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. Though not as a first language, it is the second language of choice for hundreds of millions.
  • As far as I can see, its because most of the people who use the site ARE from the US - take a look at a few random profiles and you'll confirm this. There are a fair few Canadians, Australians, New Zealanders and British (hiya!). But obviously we're fairly limited to the English speaking, and computer-literate, world, of which the US makes up a considerable part. It doesn't hurt to remind them all occasionally though. Where you find a question with answers that only apply in the US, make sure you slip in an answer from your country's perspective - this is especially important and useful in the legal category.
