LOL....I think she has the right idea even though some of her techniques are extreme. But sometimes you need a heavy hand to get your child on track.

Yes. Madea may be rough in dealing with children, but the children that she deals with are rough too. Sometimes you have to fight fire with fire. She also has some great life lessons and relationship advice incorporated into her plays and movies. Tyler Perry is a genius.

I am a Madea fan but I also recognize that Perry is sensationalizing discipline. There is a great deal more to parenting than weilding a stick. Obedience is best achieved through love, example, and mutual respect. Those who are advocates of the rod must remeber that the goal is to get our children to behave when we are not looking. This requires the development of conscience and an internal moral compass. The stick cannot promise this but patient and loving guidance can. It is easier to spank than it is to guide and correct our children with words and example. But, in the end the benefit most from the latter approach.
