An enthusiast feels strongly about what they believe in & usually don't try to bother people with pushing their ideas off on them. A nut gets a little bit crazy & tries to get everyone to follow them & do rediculous things to get attention for it.

The difference is who is applying the label? If it is a friend, you are an enthusiast. If it is a non-friend, you are a nut. The state of being an enthusiast or a nut does not come from within the person engaging in the activity..it is a judgement call from someone outside and therefore has very little bearing on anything.
