I have sung publicly once and received an alcohol induced standing ovation. ("Give Me Three Steps" was the song)

I don't mind singing in public. I am the only person I know that was kicked out of their church youth choir. I am a horrible singer.

- LOL - my church choir has a guy we need to kick out. Seriously, he sounds like a bagpipe drone in the back row and throws off all the other basses. I don't think he realizes that his voice doesn't change pitch really at all.

- It was an internal revolt - the other kids voted me out. i have a bad voice and did not know it until then. It was a good thing though.

- Yeah, well this dude is probably at least 50 and has been in and out of the choir for years... and nobody has the heart to tell him he can't sing worth a nickel. I think he might be able to with some ear training so he'd listen to his own voice, but as it is, he's only on pitch when they happen to sing whatever pitch his drone is, and it's just dreadful. But how do you tell someone they can't sing when they're 50+ and have been doing it for years?

Nope, I sing wherever and whenever a ditty pops into my head. I sing along with the music at the store a lot. How sad is it that there are muzak versions of Steely Dan songs???

I will sing at Church too. And I sing at my job sometimes, but it is mostly to help the young people I work with laugh. I, always wanted to sing in public, that is, I think it would be really cool if we could make our lives musical. There is a saying " if you want joy you must sing for it!"

Sure. I do it regularly. I don't sing solos though. Duets I'm fine with, but solos make me so nervous I can't control my voice.

How large a segment of the public? Inside a restaurant maybe..if I'd had some wine and was among friends. But in a large arena in front of thousands of people nope...I don't like large crowds! :)

I've done it. "Ballroom Blitz" was considered "my song" at the local karoake bar. A girl even asked me for permission to sing it because it was so well known that I would always sing it whenever I was there.
