  • Because our 98 cents plus their two makes a dollar.
  • For the same reason religious people stick their two cents in when answering questions about things that dont go with a religious persons beliefs!
  • Why do religious people constantly try to convert me to Christianity, or to see the "error of my ways", or to discard my "sinful" life? Would you like me to forward you some of the hateful e-mails I have received from religious members of this very site? The world isn't as black and white as you might like to believe it is.
  • I do not agree with atheists but I have to say that people are turning more and more from God and people now have the freedom to speak out more on their beliefs whereas in the past they were not able to. No one wanted to listen and they were not allowed the very freedom they are supposed to have.. freedom of religion. So.. now they can speak up on a topic that is put in their face time and time again. I am not bothered by questions about atheism (sp?) because I am not threatened by their beliefs and I was never shushed not to speak out like atheists were.. so I think they are just exercising their voices on their beliefs because they can.. just like those of us who believe in God do. You can only have a topic come up so many times that you do not support and not respond. I think that is anyone.
  • Because the question was asked and I'll answer it, don't like it? Don't ask :).
  • Just to remind you that you don't have a monopoly on the truth.
  • same reason we religious people always put our two cents in on an atheist question. it's something we have somewhat of a passion about, and they should be able to express it. same as the different religions among the believers should be able to answer as well. the truth is and always will be debatable in this life. don't like it? that's ok. we can debate about that too
  • Free Speach...They use Christians as a sounding board. We all want to be validated for our thoughts or ideas. You do not have to agree, but at least allow them the satisfaction to respond with out condemnation. When we attack their unbelief we say you do not count. The tide is turning, Christians are now being condemned for stating their beliefs. We are seen as intolerent and biased. When all is said and done, steal sharpens steal. The arguments are a good thing as long as we practice what we preach. Long suffering, patiance, kindness, love, selflessness, hospitality, and all the other things listed in Corinthians.
  • the religious people stick their two cents
  • Because they have a right to answer or comment on any question, they like. How can you learn, with a closed mind, by only wanting to hear what your religious friends say. They also know, that you believe in God, so why should you ask or reply to religious questions? :-)
  • im not an athiest but i think i used to be, my problem was that everybody tries shoving religion down everyone elses throats and they feel they need to fight back. its like being pushed into a corner
  • An atheist could easily ask the same for Christians: "Why do Christians put their two cents in when answering questions about atheism or religion?"
  • I suppose it comes as no big surprise that I am an atheist. I believe that most atheists input on questions with God or religion because they feel the need to express themselves. Most people crave attention. A lot of people also crave confliction. So they say and type things that are controversial to do both. This allows them to feel like they belong and also they can express themselves, while still not being in agreement or belief of the other argument.
  • if you only want to see things that support your beliefs, stick to visiting websites that specifically cater to them. this is "answerbag.com" not "welovejesus.com"
  • I'm glad you are contributing your two cents on the issue. Keep that in mind.
  • I love the discussion. It challenges my beliefs. It makes me dig, think, research etc. It is awesome I find myself better understanding others while growing stronger in my own beliefs!
  • i bet they don't always
  • We have a pretty strong opinion on the subject. Sometimes (I think most times), we know more about religion than the religious. We have every right to do so. Why not?
  • indoctrination and dogma what a bore
  • Coz part of what this site's about is education :)
  • If a question is headed 'Christians:' I generally don't answer it, though I may comment on other answers. It's really about the question - if you're asking for clarification on specific Bible passages that's generally out of my area (but when I have information I'll answer 'as a Christian' which is to say I'll say what my understanding is/was'). . There seem to be a lot of atheists here and surely most of us don't answer questions clearly aimed at Christians. . Honestly though, this is Answerbag, not Christian Answerbag or Wiccan Answerbag or Atheist Answerbag. I am sure there are Christian-only forums out there if you want to avoid hearing answers you don't think are germane.
  • 1)Believers run my country (and most of the world), its best to understand it. 2)Its interesting. 3)This site is about questions and answers, not about pandering to those who already believe like you do.
  • Why do you God Gobbers have to inject your desire to convert everyone to your brand of worship into every conversation?
  • Because this is a public forum open to all. There are no "gated communities" here. And all questions spend some time on the home page where I, for one, often pick up interesting questions to respond too. That's why.
  • I'm sorry. I was under the impression that Answerbag is a public website, not Godtube.com.
  • If you didn't want a wipe spread of opinions on your questions, don't ask!
  • I see this too... But my actual PROBLEM... is not so much that they do this. My problem is that they deny it and are always pointing fingers at Christians for doing the same things they do to get their points across. It's all just endless tit for tat in the end. and can be tedious and boring all around. I like most atheists better than most Christians though. Many Christians are just nuts!
  • if its a question here on AB anyone can answer it .. its just the same as many Religious people answer Atheists questions ... because they can and here on AB freedom of speech still rules ( most of the time )
  • Is your faith so fragile that it can't handle scrutiny?
  • why do religious people always have to talk about god when it is uncalled for. We get it you believe!
  • Final Answer: WE get it. YOU do!!!!
  • Because unlike extreme catholics want to believe, you guys are not the only opinion that counts in this world, there's variety in human race and if we have to tolerate your blindness in our AB you will have to tolerate our two cents. Enjoy.
  • For the same reason that "believers" take it upon themselves to proselytize when it's not necessary. We get it...you claim to believe!
  • Most people, atheists and Christians alike put in their two cents because they don't have three cents worth.
  • What does it matter? Everyone has their own belief. Christians are content in theirs, and Atheists are likewise. As long as they aren't bashing anyone's religion, it should be fine.
  • Because they can welcome to America and if your not from America welcome to a place dominated by Americans I think!
  • For the same reason Bible-thumpers do the same. WE GET IT... YOU BELIEVE! AND YOU WANT US TO TOO!!
  • I resent that. I only answer questions as asked. What are you talking about?
  • You say: "Why do atheists always put their two cents in when answering questions about God or religion?" and "I've yet to ask a question about Atheism without a negative rating" Can you clarify this: Are you complaining about atheists intruding on your questions about religion, or downgrading your questions about atheism? I looked at your question history. With regards to your religion questions, - Did science begin as an attempt to explain religion? - Is pseudo-science the religion of our times? Its primary belief is that "evidence" is "proof". - Is trying to quantify God through science like trying to capture the wind by trapping the air? I looked through them and didn't find any angry, atheistic responses. And your last three questions on atheism seem like prejudiced, rhetorical questions: - Why is a publicly admitted atheist in high office an improbability if done through elections even though most of the public are not bible thumping Christians? - When atheist moms have kids that don't look like atheist dads do they reassure them its not cheating its "evolution"? - How do you atheists know love is real based on sketchy testimonials and inconclusive lab data? Given the above, I really don't think you have a case for complaining. You will more likely receive good and polite answers if you were to come across as asking genuine questions instead of making disguised statements.
  • Who else is going to keep you clowns honest? Surely chicken little man won't or all your preachers would be honest which is HARDLY the case. Besides, if it weren't for us you would just be preaching to the choir and talking to yourselves...No wait..that would be praying.. We just like to make fun or people so if you don't like people making fun of you then stop being so funny.
  • They are trying to bring reason to the conversation. When it is dark don't you turn on the light so you can see?
  • b/c the question was asked what is wrong about telling our opinion? you tell yours dont you? its not like we are trying to force you to believe what we do like some other people do.
  • is this not called ANSWERbag?
  • If you don't want them answering your questions, put who you want to answer it in the question.
  • I am not an atheist but when you post a question in a public forum which is what this site basically is. You must understand that everyone is going to put their 2 cents in. I just wish both sides would just be respectful to each other.
  • Because atheism is also faith based, since their position cannot be proved either, and like all people who believe they have a handle on the Truth, they feel compelled to spread that Truth.
  • Why is it that people like you only see your side? I believe in God and I have never encountered so many intolerant aholes on here as the religious zealots who don't have a clue what they are talking about, generalizing everyone else's "faults" and not really getting what the whole core of the relgion is about anyway. Leave the athiests out of it.
  • Why do believers take the condescending position that of course there is something to believe in called God, but some contrary individuals, atheists, choose not to believe? It is the same way the goverment says that of course we must give taxpayer money to the poor, why doesn't everybody get on board with the plan.
  • Not knowing about a religion, and not believing it are two totally separate things. Some atheists know more about most religions than many of the members of that religion - they just don't believe that it's the truth.
  • because this is a public site. it's no different than if a religious person were to ask the same question/s aloud from a street corner. a better question would be "why are you getting pissed off that atheists answer questions of a religious nature?"
  • I think they do it because they somehow wish to learn of Gods grace and glory. Blessed are those who teach of the Lord with his divine forgiveness to all of the believers.
  • Some revel in taking every opportunity to deride and mock theists. Others just like to answer questions.
