LOL! Well maybe a little. Repetition is a key element of learning. Particularly with younger children, you must repeat things over and over.

Multiple times per day. I have 4, one of them has 'overly moderate' ADHD, another is a hormonal 14 year old little madam, another is a 17 year old no longer a boy but not yet a man and the last one is a 7 year old with attitude (learnt from 14 year old LOL), so there are a LOT of times when they just won't listen. I tend to repeat things upto 3 times, but never more, then I leave the room and leave them to it. Strangely enough, that seems to do the trick, they know they've crossed the line and they start listening ;)

I never had that problem with my kids or grandkids. I only ask once and if they don't hop to it then they went to their room for 15 minutes and then we try it again. After a few times they caught on and theirs and mine stress levels went way down. I am not saying they went to their room all peaceful like...I usually carried them screaming and crying but in the long run what worked was consistency .
