  • Rest, ELEVATE, ice. You should keep your ankle propped as high as possible with comfort. It keeps the throbbing and swelling down. You'll be good in a few days.
  • Lounge around for a few days and watch those cheesy daytime courtroom shows - rest is the best. PS I like your Woot random bag o' crap!!
  • For me, rubbing Arnica gel on it, then strapping it, speeded my recovery by about a week. You can buy it in health food stores.
  • At the time of the injury, swelling occurs. Elevate, then ice on and off, never on for more than 20 minutes. Your main swelling shall occur within two hours of the injury. Let it rest for a few days... completely. Ice and heat (mild) for pain relief and to take down some of the swelling... remember, you already have reached the peak of your swelling before now. If you tweak it again, that is reinjuring it. Ice on and off plus elevation again. Only baby it for a bit and slowly, slowly start using it again. If you need it, wrap or brace it for a bit. Do not do that for long or the ankle is not going to strengthen. Sprains are hard to treat and they tend to reoccur. You are going to have to slowly build it back up if it is a bad one.
  • rest, elevation, and painkilling gel or painkillers. Also an elastic bandage would help, but take it off in bed.
