He does. it's just that some ppl don't understand( or don't accept) His way of showing Himself. for me God is not a solid entity that can come and stand in front of me and say "Gotcha". for me He is the energy that binds everything togher, spread every where in the universe, part of every living breathing (and non living) thing. He's the energy(or force)that binds atoms to their electons, thus He's the sole reason of everything we see around us.

God is around you every day. We have to open our mind, heart and soul to hear his voice. Read scripture and pray, he will communicate to you in your life.

This question is filled with inaccurate assumptions. Billions of people who are not Jewish or Christian believe in Deity. These would include: Hindus (900 million), Buddhists (376 million, although their belief in Deity is debatable), Chinese traditional (394 million), Taoists, Shintos, Wiccans and other Neopagans, Muslims (1.5 billion), etc. Only 1.1 billion of the world's population fall in the category of Atheist/Agnostic/Secular/Nonreligious. By definition, the only a portion of these (Atheists) believe that there is no Deity. This leaves your "billions" number quite in jeopardy. http://www.adherents.com/Religions_By_Adherents.html Now, Deity does show Herself everywhere - in people, animals, plants, trees, rocks, water, rain, lightning. As a believer in immanent divinity, I see Deity everywhere. If you want your questions answered from a Abrahamic paradigm, kindly categorize your questions accordingly.

1) You are assuming there is a god. 2) You are assuming that god is a male. 3) If this god lives in the dark and is so powerful, couldn't your god change the lightbulb?

This questions assumes the idea of God as if he is a man, a creature very much like an old man who has arms, legs, a long beard (like if he doesn't have time to shave!) and who sits somewhere playing games with humans, expecting and needing that we believe in him, because if we not, he will throw you to a bad place where we will burn forever and ever. The God I believe in is bigger and better than that. He doesn't play games with us like if we are some guinea pigs in a lab. God's presence is everywhere. It is very hard for humans to understand God without picturing him as another human who even has human defects, like going blind with rage and who prefers some countries over others, a God who has "chosen people". Again, the God I believe in doesn't have defects, he is not human. He is present in the miracle of life.

The point of my question is, whether you perceive God as he, she or it, and whether you believe in any God of any earthly religion, why doesn't the one true God(s) come to all humans in clearly unambiguous terms so that there is no doubt in anyones mind that he, she or it exists and is the one true God(s)? For every human being that believes in a God, there is probably a different concept for each of them. Why would any God allow its existence to be questioned?

God did show himself to everyone, in the form of Jesus. Jesus took human form to teach and lead people in the right way. Jesus performed miracles, (raised the dead, healed the sick, fed the hungry, etc.), yet, most people STILL did not believe. I understand what you are saying. And I understand that my beliefs are in the "very small minority" here on AB. But, the majority of people did not believe then, and I'm pretty sure most people would not believe now. Just for discussion sake, what way would God show people nowadays that He is THE one true God? I have often asked this same question. If God bought 30 minutes on every major network, to perform miracles and healings, you and I both know that everyone would say it was trick photography. If God rented the largest sports stadium, to do the same, the majority of the world still would not believe because they did not see it personally. I can't think of a way that people would believe, short of God going to EVERY person individually. So God sends his disciples, pastors, preachers, to go out with His word, (which, in my opinion, is the King James Bible), and tell people about Him. But, I am like you, to a certain extent. I have often asked God why He doesn't just knock on everyones door and tell them. But, I know that Jesus stood face to face with people, and they STILL denied him.
-
It would defeat God's purprose to put on a show like that. You ahve to find God for yourself or it doesn't mean anything to you.
-
So God wants everyone to come home. God is there waiting for everyone to discover. If they can figure out the mystery. we need to open that door within to the higher dimensions. that verification that all can understand is there for each person to discover, But it is an individual experience, within the self. All truth is experienced through the self. But our ego gets in the way. if we can get our ego to step aside then the door opens.
-
You alluded to the answer in your question - "If God exists..." maybe the reality is that he/she/it doesn't exist; that the whole concept is a product of myth, legend, and imagination...unless, of course, it isn't...
-
If God were an invisible white male, sort of a supercharged Zeus, that'd be a fair question. I think of "God" (or whatever you want to call it) as the creative and animating force of the universe, the ground of "Beingness" from which we, all life, all creation, springs. If people let their lives be undisturbed by an occasional moment of stillness or an inward thought, there's no force "out there" which is going to make them do it.
-
The problem with this god thing is that it's a claim not based on any "prove" but on a "belief". Then this "belief" is reinforced by fear: "If you don't believe in God and obey God [He](?)will punish you by sending you to burn in hell for eternity". Now, how anyone will "burn in hell"--after being dead for so long and all is left is bones or dust--it's anyone's guess. "Burning bushes"--says the tale--spoke to a man called Moses and told him so and so. That's not something it can be "proved"; so it's a matter of "belief".

(Romans 1:20) For his invisible [qualities] are clearly seen from the world’s creation onward, because they are perceived by the things made, even his eternal power and Godship, so that they are inexcusable;

Cultivating Faith in the Creator BY OBSERVING the marvels of creation and reasoning from experience, many people have concluded that there is a creator. But just believing that there is a creator would not necessarily do them much good. Many today will readily say that they believe in the existence of God. For example, generations of Chinese, influenced by Confucian, Taoist, and Buddhist thinking, more or less believe in Providence, or Heaven, and its retribution. But they feel that comprehending this is beyond human ability. In the West, there are the agnostics who, though not denying the possibility of God’s existence, feel that no human can get to know him. Obviously, such ways of thinking would not help one to develop true faith in the Creator. Thus, in addition to believing that there is a God, we must trust and have faith in him. The Bible points out: “Without faith it is impossible to please him well, for he that approaches God must believe that he is and that he becomes the rewarder of those earnestly seeking him.” (Hebrews 11:6) Believing that God is “the rewarder of those earnestly seeking him” means that God is not aloof and uncaring. Rather, as a caring God, he helps those earnestly seeking him to come to know him, and he rewards them. As an old Chinese saying puts it, “among a hundred virtues, filial piety is the foremost.” Surely it is proper that children know their father and honor their parents. (Ephesians 6:1-3; Colossians 3:20) Do we not have all the more reason to know our Creator and his will? (Ecclesiastes 12:13) That being so, in order to know the true God and have faith in him, we need to find satisfactory answers to these vital questions: What is God’s name? Why did he create us? What is the purpose of life? What is our ultimate destiny? Why is there so much suffering in the world? We cannot answer these questions simply by logic or by our own experience or reasoning. We need enlightenment and direction from the Creator himself, and he has provided these in his Word, the Bible.—2 Timothy 3:16, 17. The Bible tells us that God’s name is Jehovah. It also reveals his purposes, views, and feelings, as well as his dealings with humans so that we can come to know him accurately. Right from the start, the Bible shows clearly what God’s purpose was in creating humans. In its first book, Genesis, the Bible relates: “God proceeded to create the man in his image, in God’s image he created him; male and female he created them. Further, God blessed them and God said to them: ‘Be fruitful and become many and fill the earth and subdue it.’” (Genesis 1:27, 28) God placed the first human pair he created, Adam and Eve, in a peaceful and happy garden, called the garden of Eden. They enjoyed ideal living conditions and meaningful work. As time passed they would bring forth perfect children. Not only would they not grow old and die but they would enjoy the company of their offspring, and together they would subdue the earth and turn it into a paradise in which a perfect human race could enjoy forever all the blessings that God provides. That, in brief, was God’s original purpose regarding mankind and the earth. (Isaiah 45:18) Does not all of this show that Jehovah is a loving, merciful, kind, and generous God? Is it not most satisfying and happifying to worship and to have faith in such a God?—Psalm 36:9; 103:13; Revelation 4:11. The Bible goes on to tell us, however, that for lack of appreciation and obedience, Adam and Eve broke God’s clearly stated command and thereby lost the right to live forever in that Paradise garden. (Genesis 3:1-19) Not only that but their transgression also brought sad consequences for their yet unborn offspring. The Bible says: “That is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned.” (Romans 5:12) The hardships and difficulties that we see today are the results of sin and imperfection. Even so, the merciful God made provisions through the ransom sacrifice of his Son, Jesus Christ, to deliver mankind out of slavery to sin and death. (John 3:16; 1 John 4:9, 10) What provisions? For the blessing of all mankind, God purposed to set up a Kingdom, or government, in heaven and appointed his Son, Jesus Christ, as the King of that Kingdom. (Matthew 6:10) By means of this Kingdom, God will eliminate all the problems on earth and carry out his original purpose, turning the earth into a paradise home for mankind. (Daniel 2:44; Revelation 21:3, 4) It is not a fantasy to think of living in an earthly paradise under the rule of God’s Kingdom, enjoying perfect health and happiness forever. Jehovah God has given this personal guarantee: “So my word that goes forth from my mouth will prove to be. It will not return to me without results, but it will certainly do that in which I have delighted, and it will have certain success in that for which I have sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11) What love God has demonstrated in all of this! Should we not be grateful to him? Gratitude has impelled millions of people around the world, from different races and cultures, to take action to cultivate a relationship with God and to serve him. How, then, can true faith be cultivated? To those who profess no religion, faith in God is just a psychological crutch that provides comfort for the mind and solace for the heart. Do you agree with that view? What really is faith?
-
God—Does He Really Exist? IS THERE a God of peace? For many, that question should be more precise—is there really a God? Millions of atheists answer no! Agnostics hold the view that “any ultimate reality (as God) is unknown and probably unknowable.” Yet, over a billion and a half religious people say there is a God, even though they may be seriously divided about their beliefs regarding him. Is there a way of arriving at a satisfying answer to the question? By a satisfying answer we mean one that appeals to our power of reason as well as to emotion. What, then, are some of the obstacles to having a belief in God? We have one in the words of the Bible writer John: “No man has seen God at any time.” (John 1:18) Millions reason that since they have not seen God, he does not exist. “Seeing is believing,” they say. But is that strictly logical? In actual fact, all of us believe in things we have never seen. Why? Because by circumstantial evidence and deduction we know that such things must exist. To illustrate: Who has seen radio waves? Or television waves? Or X rays? Yet we know they exist by reason of the effects produced in a radio, on a television set, and on an X-ray plate. Similarly, we can use circumstantial evidence and deduction to establish God’s existence. Following the Clues Today we take the solar system for granted. Yet just 140 years ago man’s understanding of it was limited. At that time Neptune and Pluto—the two planets farthest away from the earth and the sun were not known. Yet Neptune’s existence was suspected. Why? Because of clues—effects—that pointed to its existence. National Geographic explains: “In the 1840’s, a Frenchman and an Englishman, working separately, concluded that the gravitational tug of an unknown [and thus far unseen] planet was forcing Uranus to wander from its predicted orbit.” So, what did they do? They calculated where the missing planet ought to be, “and Neptune was found within an hour’s search.” As in so many other cases, the astronomers studied effects, or clues, and then by research found the cause. Are there any effects to establish the existence of an intelligence higher than man’s?

All through Scripture and down through history, God did just that. Miracles were performed and people were healed and saved. The outcome was the same as you see today---unbelief. Do you honestly think that if God were to perform the same miracles today that He did in the Bible, people would react any different? Can you honestly say that you would "believe" if you were witness to a bona fide miracle? or would you simply continue to ask for more "proof"? The Israelites and other nations were witness to many convincing miracles. Floating ax heads, parting of the Jordan river. healing of the sick and raising of the dead. Pillar of cloud by day and pillar of fire by night. Water from rocks, manna. Parting of the Red Sea, deliverance from Egypt by miraculous means, fulfilled prophecies, etc etc. And what do you suppose the vast majority of these people did after seeing these things? They continued on in unbelief or they continued to ask for more proof. They simply were not satisfied. I reiterate, what makes you think that the people today would react any different if God was to "show Himself?" What would you consider proof? Something that would make you believe? Something that God didn't already do? And would it be good enough, proof enough, and fantastic enough to cause you to take notice? Matthew 12:38-39 "Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered him, saying, “Teacher, we wish to see a sign from you.” 39 But he answered them, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah." Matthew 16:4 "An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah.” So he left them and departed." Many people today are always seeking after a sign or proof of God's existence so it's no wonder that they revile and ridicule Christians for living by faith instead of sight.
-
blessed is he who believes without seeing. it is a perverse generation that asks for a sign.
-
if God were to show himself so all would believe in him, it would completely negate the value of faith, and we would no longer have free will to chose Him or not chose Him.
-
Why and deprive the sheep of the pleasure of knocking at our door, ram their religion down our throats and threaten us with eternal damnation? Even god wouldn't do that to them

That is a great question! I only but skimmed over seahorses answer but I think I see, with what I read over, that his idea is a good one, one of many! Here is another...God wants people He can trust. Think about it, one day, there is going to be another world! One just like this one except without sin and wickedness! Imagine a world where people respected you and you them and you had no need of anything! Would it not be wonderful? Remember, Jesus said this, "blessed are you because you see! But blessed even more are those who believe and has not seen!". Remember this my friend. Jesus did a truly unthinkable thing that not even his disciples believed it at first! He rose from the grave! Walked in flesh and blood afterwards also for 40 DAYS! Then ascended to the Heavens! Shown Himself to many people more than that during the 40 days! This happened and was such a great display that the story has lasted for over 2000 years! God wants people He can trust! foundthisone@yahoo.com

Faith is what leads to salvation. God showed Himself as Jesus Christ, and performed thousands of miracles, yet some people still did not believe. It is God's desire that everyone will be saved....yet the Jews, His own people, rejected Him. The bible states that God hardened their hearts so that the Gentiles would be saved, and that would make the Jews "jealous". He wants us to come to Him in FAITH. If God chose to "show" Himself, then yes, everyone probably would believe. But then again, not everyone believed when He did (through Jesus when He was on earth). It's all about faith. God predestines who will believe, and who will be hardened...He knows ahead of time who will reject Him and who will open their hearts and believe without "seeing" Him.
-
because no god realy exists and all these people who are giving reasons to answer this question are really only giving you lame excuses for something that they don't have a real answer for because there is no real answer to give. except that as I wrote already no god exists.
-
It is called having faith because GOD wants to see if you can believe in him enough to see him but not with your eyes... He wants you to see him with your heart... Like on another level... Spiritually...
-
it will be no meaning of belief if he show himself he give us the signs that we can realize there must be a powerfull creator behind all of this.
-
God will be real until all people stop believing in him. He cannot survive without at least one person giving him life. He cannot show himself to people, only people can try to show him to others. This is great proof that he cannot survive without people believing in him. He is a psychological phenomenon, a manifestation of the mind.
-
If god showed himself to everyone then those who do not believe will believe and worship him just because he showed everyone that he is reall and god does not want that he wants those to worship him because they believe he is reall
-
He does exist and all the signs are here for us to see that the end of this system is near its end...The last part of the " immense image" of Daniels vision, the feet of mixed iron and clay [ the Anglo/American world power..which includes Australia ] has been in existence since 1914...always allies...is the very last 'civilization' before God acts to cleanse the world of wickedness...
-
thats why its called FAITH, jackass
-
because.......HE IS NOT REAL!!!! I can't get why people lack such logic and common sense. open your eyes and you will see!
-
Because man made god, without man believing, he does not exist. DR at will folks ;-)
-
Because faith is belief in that which cannot be proven.
-
Because a lot of people would [metaphorically] be jumping off the nearest ledge to go join him. Life is meant for living.
-
(Ecc 7:13) Consider the work of God: for who can make that straight, which he hath made crooked?
-
Probably to see how people would try to live with that uncertainty. People become boring once they are of a uniform belief.
-
What exactly would Personality look like? And why should He have to explain Himself to the likes of us? Maybe He's not looking for billions of followers, maybe He's just looking for a few good [i.e. teachable] souls.
-
I am sure the christians will say it is becuase you must believe!!! But I believe your logic is very sound and it is why my belief in christiantiy has failed.
-
he does show himself, you just have to have faith and believe, than everything will be revealed.
-
Free will. He/she does not care if you believe in him/her or not. It is his/her followers that have a problem with non-believers. If you truly wish to know God in this life, learn to love everyone unconditionally. Then mediate and say to the universe, "I love this world, this universe and everything within it with unconditional love. I wish only to give this world unconditional love." And if you truly with all your heart, MIND and soul believe it, and follow a path of unconditional love you will receive a the gift of knowing what God truly is. Many people do not wish to truly know God. They wish to know religion, in which the truth of God exists but is buried under dogma and bureaucracy. The truth of God is that he/she is Unconditional Love. So if you give it you will receive it.
-
We have a choice...He has given us his word...We can study it and get to know him...or we can choose not to. Also, creation speaks volumns...Just think what a playful puppy says about the God who created it. A member of the French Academy of Sciences stated: “Natural order was not invented by the human mind or set up by certain perceptive powers. . . . The existence of order presupposes the existence of organizing intelligence. Such intelligence can be none other than God’s.”—Dieu existe? Oui (Paris, 1979), Christian Chabanis, quoting Pierre-Paul Grassé, p. 94.
-
Billions just believed of god - boy...
-
We as intelligent and sentient beings can figure out what is good and right. So therefore we do NOT need a "god" anymore. Ancient people needed one so that they could explain what they didn't understand about the natural world. With modern science we can now understand the world around us and no longer need a "god" to fill in the blanks.
-
Because, 'god' is only a primitive concept in the minds of primitive caveman, hunter, gatherer, farmer and herder. The collaborative endeavor of the stone-age caveman advanced mankind far enough to have leisure time, to wonder about 'the self and the surrounding universe', and imagine the concept of 'god' --with all its varied good and ugly facets,-- as a primitive answer! * It’s outdated now. Since then, man’s industrious enterprise has bankrupted the idea of ‘god-delusion’. All other so-called 'heathen' beings live their life without need for god or salvation, etc; driven by the biological instincts developed by evolution over billions of years. And they live a more perfect and ethical moral life even by human standards. e.g., They don't rape, or commit gluttony when not hungry. * If god existed, its awareness would exist within all living beings as naturally as hunger, thirst, sleep and sexual drive... And such 'divine consciousness' would be automatic, without the need for any agent, prophet, priest, pundit, mullah, rabbi, gyani, lama, monk or other godp imps... * This isn't the case so god doesn't exist. Like the monotheist or ‘Semitic’ religions make one believe for millennia, there CAN NOT be a parent-master like "fearsome-but-loving, belief-obedience-submission-demanding, love-starved, prayer-expecting-answering-ignoring, other-‘false’-Gods-hating, non-believers-cursing, sadist, possessive, angry, impotent, jealous, mean, punishing-rewarding, anti-knowledge, curiosity-killer, Satan-fearing imaginary humanoid” called god! + 10 proofs against existence of a ‘god-being’ 1. Non-humans, who outnumber humans billion-to-one, don’t care for god in any way by prayer, worship, sacrifice / otherwise. 2. A particular god’s attributes are always reflected on to those of its ‘prophets-priests-pimps’ & their believers. 3. If god can be ‘felt-in-heart’ or imagined-in-mind, so can be ‘devil’ & countless other emotions / concepts. 4. Humans who don’t care for any god in any way by prayer, etc., are unaffected by it. 5. Nobody has perceived ‘god’ within 5 physical senses. 6. Believers in different ‘gods’ can coexist, compete & kill each other & their gods are powerless. 7. All Gods have been ineffective in final resolution of inter-god disputes. 8. However all ‘different’ believers & non-believers are subject to natural forces equally. 9. Natural elements truly control matter ‘like god’. 10. Mankind today controls elements, disproving (dead or alive) god’s supremacy over matter –dead or alive! Amen! The God Delusion: << Delusion [di lo’osh’n] (delusions) 1. false belief a persistent false belief held in the face of strong contradictory evidence, especially as a symptom of a psychiatric condition 2. mistaken notion a false or mistaken belief or idea about something >>

That would spoil all the fun. Preachers, pastors, tele- evangelists, etc, would have to go out and get a real job.
