not sure of exact formula for vinegar but i know it contains acetic acid and the formula for that is CH3COOH
my feeble answer could explain my poor scores at chem in secondary school :)
"Vinegar is very dilute acetic acid. The vinegar used in cooking contains approximately 4% of acetic acid. The chemical formula of acetic acid is CH3COOH."

So that tells us that a specific formula for vinegar does not exist, given its other variables and ingredients.

Vinegar does contain acetic acid. It is acetic acid. That which you buy in the stores (white vinegar) is just diluted with water. Apple cider vinegar and red wine vinegar also still contain impurities that are left over from the fruit juice that was fermented to create the acetic acid.
