  • Young parents generally have more physical energy to meet the demands of a growing family. I had my kids in my early 20s and I shudder to think how I could've managed that when I was older! I think also it's easier to remember what it was like to be a little kid when you aren't that removed in age! Older parents have the benefit of the experiences of their friends who are are raising children - they've been able to observe what works and what doesn't from their peers. The wisdom that comes with the added years also gives older parents some perspective about what's really important and what you can let slide.
  • I had older parents. Older parents have been around the block a few more times. Life experiences are passed on to you in the form of advice. They've had more time to establish themselves financially. Of course this isn't true of all older parents, but it was mine. They tend to be a bit more even paced due to maturity. On the downside, for me anyway, they were also less energetic. Having been there, done that, the enthusiasm wasn't high. Both of them having grown up during the depression era, they were not open minded. Many subjects were taboo. You didn't even mention the word "sex". They were very old-fashioned. They were also racists. They lived through the days of segregation.
