As a tourist, where is better to stay in San Francisco, Downtown or Fisherman's Wharf?

Hey Carm. Personally, I'd stay in the Fisherman's Wharf area. (Actually, I will be as I'm taking a group out there at the end of August!) That's basically the hub of tourist activity, and a fun place to stay. Great shops, restaurants, SF Bay, etc. Have you asked Jodie about this at all? I know she was out there just recently.

Fisherman's Wharf is the most scenic of those two. But beware, because it's also the highest crime area in the entire city.

downtown...its much more centrally located...you can walk anywhere from downtown.
