  • no, stupid people are still stupid. it's just that humans don't require all that much intelligence to procreate. in fact, it seems like stupid people breed the most quickly, so that explains a lot!
  • I think that in the case of human stupidity, the sheer numbers are overwhelming. :-)
  • I think everyone is smart, that is a major reason why we adapted. We just have different methods for measuring intelligence. These methods obviate some types of intelligence and appreciate others. Of course, in any adaptation, some members of a species are in the top ranks. Chettahs may be the fastest animal, but only maybe ten percent can run that extra 3 or five miles faster. Give it up for humans!!
  • In nature, the healthy strong ones breed more and therefore are better able to pass on thier strengths. In humanity the less intelligent breed more. It's the theory behind an overwhelmingly bad movie Idiocracy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idiocracy
  • The thing is you are only considered smart if you are smart compared to other people. Even the stupidest people are smarter than the smartest animal. There is no standard bar for "smart" or "stupid" except comparing ourselves to each other... so even if the entire human population is gradually getting smarter and smarter on average, the same number of people will be considered stupid. Particularly to those who are in the upper end of population intelligence, most people seem extremely stupid.
  • Murphy said that nothing is fool proff because fools are such geniuses. Forrest Gump said, "My mama always said that stupid is as stupid does." In Proverbs, the fool is the person who understands what is right to do and does the opposite. I don't think the problem is with the population's innate intelligence, but with its choices. We don't use all the intelligence we have been given. It is, therefore, possible to be inteliigent fools.
  • Your question could imply that there is a choice where stupidity is concerned insomuch that would allow stupid people to become smarter. The real question would be then, are people really stupid or are they just lazy. I think it is more of the latter than we might think. Also, if you mean smart people might be stupid for being so few then are you asking if smart people shouldn't "smart up" and procreate more efficiently? Perhaps if smart people were being personally responsible for their knowledge of how over population is impacting the planet they might be doing the earth more harm than good by not allowing an influx of smart offspring. Then there is the dilemma of personal responsibility versus spawning more brains that could solve the problems of over infestation of both smart and dumb people. My solution would be that smart people should govern the stupid with heavy restrictions on multiplying their numbers and put these parents through some of the same rigors that same sex parents have to undergo to adopt. That could curtail some of the nonsense.
